Frequently Asked Questions
Medicare or private health insurance rebates
Medicare
If you have a referral from a GP or a psychiatrist for a Mental Health Care Plan, you will be eligible to receive a Medicare rebate of $98.95 per session for up to 10 sessions per calendar year.
Alternatively, your GP might provide an Eating Disorder Care Plan, which allows for 20-40 Medicare rebates of $98.95 per calendar year.
Private Health Insurance
If you have private health insurance that includes psychological counselling as extras cover you may be eligible for a partial rebate. It’s always a good idea to contact your individual insurance provider for further information about your individual coverage.
Do I need a referral?
You can make an appointment without a referral, you will just need to pay the full amount for your sessions.
What’s the process for booking an appointment?
Once you’ve decided where to see me (Cott, East Freo, Telehealth), just reach out and let me know via my booking form and I’ll get in touch.
How long are sessions and what can I expect from the first one?
All sessions are 50 minutes. Your initial session will be a ‘get to know you session’, we’ll talk about what brought you to therapy, and what you’d like help with. I’ll also give you a bit of a picture of what therapy will look like / how many sessions might be beneficial, frequency of sessions, etc.
